Island Chapter Opportunities
Island Specific Publications
Chapter
offices on the islands of Oahu, Maui, Kauai and
the Big Island of Hawaii promote the state of Hawaii
and the uniqueness of each island.
- Hawaii's Big Island, Official Vaction Planner
This directory features HVCB members on the
Big Island who provide accommodations, restaurants,
airlines, car rental, tour operators, activities
and attractions, wedding planners and related
visitor services. Big Island products, major
events, history, culture, music, and recreation
are also featured. Travel directories are available
by calling (800) 648-2441. Distribution is 100,000
copies annually.
- Kauai's Vacation Planner
This fulfillment piece, used in all Kauai promotions,
includes a description of the island's five
major districts and a calendar of events. It
also lists accommodations, activities and attractions,
airlines, car rentals, destination associations,
golf courses, wedding and honeymoon planners,
and retail shopping centers. Vacation Planners
are available at (800) AH-KAUAI. Distribution
is 150,000 copies annually.
- Maui Vacation Planner
This comprehensive travel planner includes information
about the Tri-Islands of Maui, Molokai and Lanai.
It includes information such as accommodations,
dining, shopping, recreation, attractions and
events. Stories about Maui's geographic regions,
history, legends, culture, agriculture and more
are also featured. Copies may be obtained by
calling (800) 525-MAUI. Distribution is 225,000
copies annually.
- Oahu Vacation Planner
The Oahu Travel Planner offers our visitors
insight to our beautiful island's culture, land,
and people. Helpful hints to simplify their
travel plans include suggestions regarding outdoor
activities, cuisine, art and history, events
and festivals, and touring our north, south,
west, and east shores. Call 1-877-525-OAHU for
a free copy. Distribution is 150,000 copies
annually.

Marketing Opportunities in HVCB Publications
HVCB produces a variety of guides, travel planners
and advertising inserts. Participating in these
publications can multiply the value of your marketing
dollars.
HVCB Marketing Guides
Based on your business type, your services may be
listed in the following publications:
- Visitors Guide to The Islands of Aloha
is distributed to potential visitors and provides
information about the diversity of Hawaii. Distribution
is approximately 325,000 copies annually.
- The Travel Professionals Guide to Hawaii
The Travel Professionals Guide to Hawaii is recognized as the
only complete directory to the Hawaii travel
product. Published in January and July, the
Guide includes accommodations, tour
companies, activities, shows, restaurants, and
attractions, with up-to-date rates and retail
commissions. For travel agents, it is an indispensable
tool for selling Hawaii vacations. For advertisers,
it is a unique, cost-effective way to reach
Hawaii-producing travel agents. HVCB members
receive a 10% discount on published rates. Primary
distribution is controlled circulation to 25,000
Hawaii-producing travel agents - an exclusive
database qualified by agency affiliation and
volume of Hawaii business. The Guide
is also mailed as a response piece to all HVCB
travel agent inquiries.

Meetings & Incentives
Hawaii has a proven record for being a great corporate
meetings and incentive travel destination. The
following HVCB publications and marketing opportunities help to keep members--and
their customers--informed.
- Corporate Meetings & Incentives Official Planner's Guide
Informs meeting planners about meeting facilities
and services provided by members. Distribution
is approximately 25,000 copies annually.
- Online CMI Calendar
This marketing tool offers a chronological listing
of meetings confirmed in Hawaii. It contains
logistics and contact information for meeting
planners (login required).
- CMI Internet Site
For further and more up to date information
on corporate meetings and incentive programs

- Meetings, Incentives, Conventions & Exhibitions (MICE) Guide Based on our Westbound Guide to Meetings, Conventions and Incentives publication, the MICE Guide is translated into: (1) Chinese traditional for Taiwan; (2) Chinese simplified for China; (3) Korean; and (4) Japanese. HVCB is committed to growing Hawaii’s business from Asia, and the MICE Magazine will specifically target businesses in Asia that have an interest in bringing meetings and incentive travel to the state of Hawaii.

Each year, the Bureau creates a marketing calendar
to chart our strategic initiatives in all of our
major market areas. It's helpful for members who
want to join in our cooperative marketing efforts,
or who want to take advantage of the energy created
by HVCB programs to run their own price-pointed
advertising in the selected markets.

Marketing Opportunities in Online Marketing
HVCB is actively involved in many different areas
of information technology. Among the first destinations
to promote actively on the Internet, www.gohawaii.com
contains more than 700 pages.
World
Wide Web Site
The World Wide Web provides a graphical "point
& click" interface to the Internet. HVCB's
web site provides generic information about Hawaii
(i.e., convention services, culture, activities,
attractions, points of interest, calendar of events,
etc.) but more importantly, we provide free hypertext
links to our members who have a home page on the
Internet. The HVCB's Consumer website is www.gohawaii.com,
and our general e-mail address is info@hvcb.org.
Internet Links
Because the HVCB is a non-profit organization,
it can participate on the broad non-commercial level
of the Internet, while still providing links (or
pointers) to our members for commercial purposes.
Every HVCB member is entitled to at least one hypertext
link from our consumer website, gohawaii.com as a benefit of membership.
This allows you to have a 24 hour per day, 7 day
per week "virtual storefront" for your business.

Kahe Wale
This electronically transmitted monthly newsletter, informs
members, media and community leaders of Hawaii of
travel news, features and HVCB activities. It includes

This is your opportunity to describe your product, service or partnership idea to the HVCB community.
E-newsletters
Advertise in the Islands of Aloha Express monthly e-newsletter, sent to over 200,000 opt-in leisure consumers each month. The E-xpressly for Travel Professionals monthly e-newsletter, is sent to an average 55,000 opt-in travel agents each month. The Consumer E-Reponse Program is a customized and automated e-mail response program that generates exposure for your business through the information request process on gohawaii.com.

Advertising Campaigns
These programs are a cooperative effort which will
allow you to help promote Hawaii while presenting
your commercial message. It allows the HVCB to build
Hawaii's image while you grab the customer's attention.

Ke Kula O Hawaii: Travel Agency Training
The HVCB offers the
Ke Kula O Hawaii, an Online Self-study Program . These informative, interactive, fun
workshops focus on Hawaii geography, history, culture
and sites of interest, while helping agents improve
selling skills like overcoming objections. As certified Hawaii
Destination Specialists, agents receive consumer
sales leads from the HVCB 1-800 number and web site
inquires. As soon as the agent books any client
to Hawaii, they can request a free welcome packet.
Their client will receive a pre-departure, customized
newsletter from the HVCB highlighting island events
and activities. They'll also receive a E Komo Mai Welcome Guidebook.
The Welcome Guidebook is a collection of dynamic content and special offers from golf, activities, attractions, shopping, and dining companies, personalized and available only for customers booking their vacations through a certified HVCB Hawaii Destination Specialist travel agent. HVCB members are encouraged to participate

With written approval, members may include the HVCB
member logo on brochures, letterhead, business cards,
etc. Proudly displaying your membership in the HVCB

"Look before you leap" -- HVCB's Market Trends Department offers insight into how to extend your marketing dollars. As a member, you have access to Market Trends Online - your one-stop source for the latest in HVCB market research and analysis. The regularly updated website includes special reports and presentations, such as daily passenger volume, Island-specific arrivals from the top U.S. metropolitan areas, and travel forecast links.

Trends Statistics
The Market Trends Department provides members with general or detailed statistics on visitors to Hawaii and overall industry trends. Information is available through various levels of membership programs.
Database
Members may buy mailing lists at a discount from
our extensive database of potential Hawaii visitors
who have called our 1-800-GO-HAWAII number or logged
on to our web site at www.gohawaii.com to request

Public
Relations
HVCB's Public Relations Division assists in branding
Hawaii by encouraging positive editorial coverage.
The division liaises with North America print,
broadcast and web media, providing news and information
about Hawaii and its varied experiences. It also
assists select qualified media with travel expenses
and/or itineraries to visit the Islands for further
research resulting in coverage. Members are encouraged
to keep the PR Division informed of news and events
that can be incorporated into their Media materials.
