Aloha HVCB Ohana!
Mahalo to our HVCB Membership Ohana for assisting the Membership Department in completing its 2004 Update Project. The information gathered will be used for administrative purposes, marketing services, and listings in various offline and online publications.
We are in the next phase of our 2004 Update Project. A registration form has been sent via e-mail to all of our member's administrative contacts to ensure that they are kept abreast of information pertaining to their organization's specific major marketing area (MMA).
If you do not complete the online registration process, you will be placed on all mailing lists. (i.e. newsletters, event invitations, marketing opportunities etc.) To ensure that you receive and are made aware of all essential communication and marketing opportunities from HVCB, its Island Chapters, and HTA's other marketing contractors. You may unsubscribe at any time by contacting the Membership Department via e-mail at membership@hvcb.org.

2004 North America Marketing Opportunities
The HVCB recently announced details of its marketing plans targeted to impact travel to Hawaii in the spring shoulder season promoting the Come Celebrate and the Hawaii Arts Season.
The season will run a period of 10 weeks, offering events statewide starting with the Hawaii Opera Theatre's "Merry Widow", and ending with May Day concerts across the state. This time period will allow the travel industry to incorporate events that showcase arts and culture into their collateral and product offerings.

Hawaii Tourism Asia Opens its Offices in Korea, China, and Taiwan
Three brand-new offices for Hawaii Tourism Asia were officially opened in Seoul, Shanghai and Taipei by Marketing Garden Ltd. to market the State of Hawaii as a tourist destination from January 1, 2004. Each office is staffed with experienced marketing managers who have world-class backgrounds in the travel industry and/or in media relations. The teams in each market are working closely with travel agents, wholesalers, airlines, media, and consumers to generate increased tourism to Hawaii. These offices will be your first contacts in Asia outside Japan to promote your products or services throughout Asia. The Big Island Visitors Bureau Hit the Road Seeking Spring and Fall Business The Big Island Visitors Bureau partnered with Hilton Waikoloa Village, Waikoloa Beach Marriott, Ohana Keauhou Beach Hotel, SunQuest Vacations, Kona Beach House and Hawaii Naniloa Resort at the Seattle Travel Show. BIVB followed up with a Hawaii's Big Island Showcase (travel agent seminars and dinner with presentations by participating vendors) for Expedia reservations agents and to travel agents in Seattle, Tacoma and Portland.
To promote the lucrative meetings, conventions and incentive markets, the Big Island Visitors Bureau was pitching the destination at two trade conferences this month-the Professional Convention Management Association in Indianapolis and the Meeting Planners International in San Antonio.
The public relations team headed to the Big Apple on a media blitz to boost destination editorial coverage with two media functions and individual media calls to print and broadcast media including Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Departures, National Geographic Adventure, Food and Wine magazine and Emeril Live.

Kauai Visitors Bureau Blitzes New York In an effort to start the year off with new story ideas for Kauai, the Kauai Visitors Bureau and a few members will be in New York sharing their story pitches with top travel writers and publications for the whole week.
KVB will also be joining the HVCB in Los Angeles for their joint media mart later this year.

Maui Visitors Bureau Calendar of Events Beginning February 7th, 2004 the Molokai Island Main Street Association will begin a weekly, free historic walking tour of Kaunakakai Town. The hour and a half tour will be held on Saturday mornings at 7:30am.

Big Island Visitors Bureau - Margo Mau The BIVB is pleased to announce the addition of Margo Mau to our team. She will serve as Director of Sales and Marketing, Japan and Asia. Margo comes to us from the Hilton Waikoloa Village where she served as the Director of Far East Sales. Margo also serves as the CEO of the Konishiki Kids Foundation and is also on the Board of Directors of Benny Agbayani's Myth Youth Foundation.
Kaua'i Visitors Bureau - Nalani Vidal Please welcome KVB's new Sales Coordinator Nalani Vidal who started on January 28th. Nalani comes from the Embassy Resort in Poipu and brings her special aloha spirit with her to KVB.
HVCB Information Office Moves to Waikiki Business Plaza
HVCB's Information Office has been consolidated and relocated to HVCB's Corporate Offices in the Waikiki Business Plaza. It will continue to welcome all walk-in visitors except for Japanese visitors who are being served by Hawai'i Tourism Japan at (808) 226-7038.
Office hours are from Monday - Friday. 8:00am - 4:30pm
