in Hawaii are enjoying today. Hawaiian music embodies
the uniqueness of Hawaii's culture and is one of the
key factors in differentiating our destination. The
music of the Islands is more diverse and accessible
than ever, and its appeal can clearly influence travel
decisions.
The tour is being produced by WorldSound, who has worked
with many of the Island's finest artist to spread the
music of Hawaii around the world. Along with HVCB, the
Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, the
Western States Arts Federation, and United Vacations
support the tour's efforts to perpetuate and promote
Hawaiian music across America.
In the U.S. cities, fans can enter to win a trip to
Hawaii courtesy of United Vacations. The prize package
includes round trip airfare for two on United Airlines,
hotel accommodations at a select Starwood Hotels &
Resorts Hawaii property, Alamo rental car and free passes
to top attractions, courtesy of the Activities &
Attractions Association of Hawaii.

Hawaiian Flair on German Summer Events
In
July various events brought Hawaiian flair to Germany.
Great promotion for Hawaiian music has been done by
the performances of Amy & Willie K. and Makana during
several events in Germany, amongst those the tour of
Carlos Santana and the Ironman event in Frankfurt. Hawaii
Tourism Europe promoted these performances by a mailing
to travel agents.
A Hula festival in Zeulenroda attracted several thousands
of visitors - Hawaii Tourism Europe was present with
an own booth and distributed information on the Aloha
islands. A Hawaii information evening, organized with
media partner Pforzheimer Zeitung, attracted more than
200 guests and entertained with Hula live performance.
Hawaii Ironman Promotion
Hawaii
Tourism Europe has successfully run an extensive Hawaii
promotion within the Opel Ironman Germany Frankfurt.
After the two weeks radio promotion mentioned in last
Kahe Wale issue, the sports event itself took place
in Frankfurt on July 11. More than 2,000 athletes participated
in the qualification race for the Ironman Hawaii. Three
hundred thousand spectators supported the athletes in
their "longest day of the year"! HTE was part of the
event, with distribution of 10,000 Hawaii branded drink
bottles and a life on air Hawaii sweepstakes during
the competition on HR3 radio station. Moreover, Amy,
Willie K. and Makana brought Hawaiian atmosphere with
their performance in the finishing line. Hawaii Tourism
Europe distributed 50 Leis with Hawaii greeting and
website link to VIPs and the first athletes entering
the finishing line.
